Hands Across North Quabbin Network's (HANDS) Deliberative Democracy project is a top 20 finalist in the Make It Your Own Awards sponsored by The Case Foundation, to see who can motivate the most people to vote for their favorite project online by April 22, 2008. The top four projects will each win $25,000 - and we can be one of them with your support!
For five years, community leaders in rural North Quabbin region of Central Massachusetts have been working to build trust among the region's diverse group of residents through community projects such as mentoring troubled youth, holding an interfaith Thanksgiving service, and catalyzing a strategic planning process to help residents with different points of view find common ground over the future direction of one of the areas regional school districts.
The network of community groups in North Quabbin needs support to continue organizing two annual public conversations - called "Action Forums" - one that identifies a shared community concern and another that determines an action plan.
We've already won $10,000 by being one of the 20 finalists from the original group of 5,000 and you can help us win another $25,000! Please vote online now and invite your friends to do the same!
